Hand-carved gyros, cool tzatziki, warm pita, and a Greek salad that does what it says. We're not a deli that happens to serve gyros — we're Pensacola's Greek deli. Same family. Same recipes. Same counter since 1993.
Hip Pocket Deli has been tucked into 4124 Barrancas Avenue since 1993 — carving gyros, whisking tzatziki, and feeding the west side of Pensacola the way our family has always cooked.
We opened as a lunch counter with a Greek heart: the gyro spit out back, the pita warm on the griddle, feta in the salads and kalamata on everything. Thirty-two years later, that hasn't changed. The recipes came from home. The bread gets cut the same way every morning. The tzatziki is still made in-house.
People call us a deli — and we are, happily. Cold cuts sliced to order, sandwiches built on fresh bread, a line that moves so you can be back at work on time. But the soul of this place is Greek, and always has been. The gyros aren't a feature; they're the reason.
We're not flashy. We don't want to be. We want to feed you lunch — the way our family feeds family.
